Dr. Chi-Yu Cheng got his PhD degree from the University of Washington in 2020. After that, he spent 3 years as a postdoc at the University of Missouri. Last year, he joined the Citadel as a visiting faculty. His research interest is the applications of algebraic geometry. His favorite calculus course is Calc III.
Aside from mathematical abstraction, he also enjoys solving problems with hands-on programming. On the one hand, mathematical abstraction clarifies the problems and their solutions. On the other hand, computer programs extract insightful patterns from large datasets efficiently. He encourages students to do the same during his classes.
