Dr. Bill Woolsey has been an Associate Professor of Economics with the School of Business at The Citadel since 1986. Courses taught by Dr. Woolsey include Money and Banking, Principles of Macroeconomics, Economics for Decision Making, Fundamentals of Economics, Principles of Microeconomics. He also served as Chairman of The Citadel Faculty Council from 2008 – 10.
Dr. Woolsey was Mayor of the Town of James Island from 2010 – 11. Dr. Woolsey was associate editor for Unleashing Capitalism published by the South Carolina Policy Council in 2009. He was a member of the James Island Town Council and was Chairman of the Public Safety Committee from 2002 – 05. Prior to coming to Charleston, Dr. Woolsey was an Assistant Professor of Economics for Talladega College. Dr. Woolsey received his PhD in Economics from George Mason University and a Master of Arts in Economics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
Dr. Woolsey has published and continues to write for various business journals. He is a member of several honor fraternities including Phi Beta Kappa, Omicron Delta Epsilon, Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Sigma Tau.
