Assistant Professor of Health and Human Performance
Dr. George Grieve is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health and Human Performance at The Citadel. He earned his Ph.D. and M.S. in Exercise Science with an emphasis on the Health Aspects of Physical Activity from the University of South Carolina, as well as his B.S. in Exercise and Sports Science from the University of South Carolina Aiken.
At The Citadel, Dr. Grieve is responsible for online course development and teaching for the graduate and undergraduate degrees in Strength and Conditioning. Additionally, he is responsible for teaching graduate and undergraduate residential classes in Strength and Conditioning, Sports Nutrition, Scientific Writing and Presenting in Research, Exercise Testing and Prescription, as well as several others.
Dr. Grieve’s research focuses are in the areas of energy balance, physical activity, and the relationship between fitness, injuries, and performance in tactical populations. Dr. Grieve formed and directs The Citadel BEAST Lab (Building Efficient Applications of Strength Training), where he mentors graduate and undergraduate students in professional development, scientific writing, and research. As a former nationally ranked powerlifter, he is most passionate about resistance training and its impact on health and performance.
