A Florida native, Dr. Thompson has degrees from both the University of Florida (BA, MA) and Florida State University (PhD). He has taught English at the high school, community college, and college levels; his classes at The Citadel have ranged from first-year composition to business communication to advanced composition, as well as a variety of leadership courses for undergraduates and graduate courses in the MAT program for folks who want to become high school English teachers.

You’re likely to see Dr. Thompson at Citadel parades, varsity and club sporting events, and other campus activities taking pictures for the yearbook or to post on his personal Facebook page, so family members and friends can follow Citadel events throughout the year.
